The Apartheid of Sex

The main point of this slide show is that Gender is as Gender does.

In truth, sex is in our minds and has nothing to do with what kind of genitals you have.

Three primary mental elements -- nurturance, assertiveness and eroticism -- are associated with three primary colors -- blue, yellow and red.

For example, some people may be simply blue.

Other people's sex may be solid gold. What turns them on is competition.

And then there are those whose sex emotes erotically, in ruby red.

Sex should be looked at as an endless spectrum of color. . .

What sex is heesh?

And what sex are they? A blended brown of nurturance, aggression and eroticism.

Some of us are black with gender complexity, our sex a dynamic flux of change.

Others of us are white with gender indecision.

What sex am I?

Three Great Myths

Patriarchy: Penis .vs. Vagina

But character, personality and soul -- these things are in the mind, not the crotch.

Our minds are infinitely unique, endlessly individual, and totally flexible.

It is time to declare that the male or female ideology of sex has no clothes.

Yes gender is as gender does, for we are not born as muscle-men.

And it does take an awful lot of practice to be a barbie doll.

We've got to realize that the sex we practice is limited only by our imagination, not by our genitals.

You might ask aren't people born with either X or Y chromosomes?

Our genes give us different skin tone, but we broke the apartheid of race.

The 2% variation in genes give us different hormones, but that's no reason to maintain an apartheid regime.

Besides, each of our testosterone and estrogen levels are unique.

Indeed, hormone levels are so ephemeral, so specious a basis for sex-typing, that millions of people voluntarily change their hormone levels with pharmaceuticals.

While there is often a medical reality to hormone differences, this does not justify a carryover of sex typing to the social, economic and legal spheres of life.

And what about babies?

Not necessarily.

Millions of women are infertile. Are they not women?

How about eggs and sperms, doesn't that separate men from women?

Sperm can't be a point of sexual difference when it is sold through mail-order catalogs.

Finally, millions of children await adoption.

Justifications for Apartheid:

Genes give us biology.

It's the law that creates an apartheid of sex.

There are two main reasons to abolish the apartheid of sex: it's unfair and it's unjust.

The abolition of sex must begin at birth.

A continuum so vast and so unbounded that it's not even broached at birth

We must demand that the governments stop branding newborns with male or female birth certificates.

Now critics worry that, if the apartheid of sex ends, two people with the same genitalia might get married. . .

Critics had similar fears with the apartheid of race.

Critics also worry that, without an apartheid of sex, two people with different genitals might enter the same washroom.

Agitation killed off the most racist laws so that today, public facilities cannot be separated on the basis of so-called race.

Critics worry that, without apartheid labels on people, penises and vaginas might compete in the same sports.

The apartheid of sex is as wrong as the apartheid of race.

Today it is fashionable in some places to say that our minds are shaped by our genes

Stereotypes are started to create or maintain an artificial separation between social groups, with different rights and status for each group.

The Greeks began a stereotype of women as passive receptacles of male seed.

Early monotheists considered the failure to fully control women to be a fatal weakness of the many gods regimes.

So monotheistic religions began a stereotype of women as inherently evil and full of guile.

CLAIMS OF SCIENTIFIC PATRIARCHY

For example, in the referenced math tests, the variation in test scores among men alone is always much larger than the average difference between men and women.

Paradigms of Gender Science

Finally, what of the sex of sexuality and the language of love?

Writing in Scientific American, sexual genetics pioneer Simon LeVay observed that everyone may have same sex feelings, but that the gay gene could make gays more self-reliant. . .

Even people with vaginas are not of the same sex.

Our sexual identities are unique, far beyond any male or female label.

In the unisexual world of tomorrow, Mom and Dad will be parents with names.

In the unisexual world of tomorrow, kids will try on sexual identities via cyberspace. . .

Our genitals are just part of our skin.

Throughout history, gender pioneers have found a new personal and subjective definition for sex

we start to evolve from Homo Sapiens, to creative persons

We must strive to break free of the chains of sexual apartheid

Uniting humanity on the level of sex will be more momentous than any other social revolution
